Legal Guidance That Protects and Advances the Mission
Legal Affairs is the heart of the Office’s work: providing timely, practical, and solutions-oriented legal advice that advances the College’s academic mission while minimizing institutional risk. Our attorneys and legal professionals counsel Morehouse across the full range of matters a modern institution of higher education encounters — from the contracts that power daily operations, to the employment questions that arise in any workplace, to governance and board affairs, and the occasional litigation that must be managed with discipline and care.
The Office represents Morehouse College — not its employees or students in their individual capacities. When members of the College community act within the scope of their official duties, they may rely on the Office for guidance; for personal legal matters, individuals should retain their own counsel. Communications with the Office made for the purpose of providing legal advice to the College are protected by the attorney-client privilege, which belongs to the College and is the College’s to assert or waive.
Our practice spans contract review and negotiation; employment and labor relations; litigation and dispute management; governance and board affairs; intellectual property and technology transactions; real estate and facilities; student affairs and academic policy; policy development; training and workshops; and crisis management. Whatever the issue, our objective is constant — to find the path that protects the College and keeps its mission moving forward.
How to request assistance. The most efficient way to reach us is through a single intake channel that routes your question to the right member of the team. The Request for Legal Services Form in LawVu and the central intake address asklegal@morehouse.edu are the front doors to the Office, ensuring that every request is assigned promptly and tracked to resolution.
