HOW TO PREPARE FOR GRADUATION
Step 1:
Review your Student Worksheet in Degree Works with your Academic Advisor or Division Chair to ensure you are on track to graduate.Step 2:
Apply for graduation! You must apply for graduation for the term in which you plan on completing your degree requirements. Once you apply, your application cannot be withdrawn. However, you can submit a request to have your application moved to the term that you will complete your degree requirements. If you are unable to complete the requirements for the term you initially applied, you have 45 calendar days after the last day of the term to be considered for that term. Otherwise, you will need to re-apply bysending an email to records@morehouse.edu.
Degree requirements include:
• 120 credit hours requirement
• 60 credit hour residency requirements
• Overall 2.0 GPA requirements
• Meet all general education requirements
• Meet all major and minor (if applicable) requirements
• Meet all elective requirements
The deadline to apply for graduation and participate in Commencement 2025 is Tuesday August 27, 2024. Students completing requirements in Summer 2024, Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 are eligible to participate in the ceremony in May 2025. The deadline for Summer 2025 is July 11, 2025, these students will be eligible to participate in the ceremony in May 2026.
Step 3:
Complete graduation administrative requirements. Students should check Banner Web for holds in each area below. The hold(s) will be removed once the required task has been completed.1) Return books, resources or materials to the Wooddruff Library and satisfy any outstanding library fees in full.
2) Satisfy, in full, any outstanding account balances.
3) Meet with the Office of Student Conduct (if applicable) to resolve any outstanding matters to have the hold removed.
Step 4:
At the completion of the final semester, during graduation clearance, check Banner Web or Degree Works to confirm your degree has been awarded and you have no holds preventing participation in the ceremony.
