Research at Morehouse College
About Morehouse Research
Morehouse faculty, students, and staff engage in research that is relevant to the mission of the institution. We interrogate topics and generate knowledge in a variety of subjects, such as health disparities, the use of Artificial Intelligence in teaching and advising and global policies that disenfranchise minoritized populations.
Sponsored Programs, Research, and Undergraduate Student Training (SPRUST) is an administrative unit within Academic Affairs that seeks to elevate the Morehouse College research enterprise by promoting synergy between research and training across all disciplines, while supporting scholarship and development. Led by the Associate Provost for Research & Student Training, SPRUST encompasses the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) and the Student Training Office (STO).

Collaborations & Partnerships
Atlanta University Center Research Development Collaborative – The AUC Research & Development Collaborative exists to build synergy and foster collaboration among researchers on each of the member campuses, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse School of Medicine and Morehouse College. The National Science Foundation recently awarded the AUC institutions a $14M cooperative agreement (NSF 2341110) to enhance the research support and service capacity through the development of a shared resources model that reduce systemic barriers to competitiveness and strengthen the research enterprise within the AUC. This initiative will strengthen the AUC research enterprise and generate a national model for collaboration between emerging research institutions to advance the nation's research agenda by sharing knowledge, resources, and effective practices, while also diversifying the nation's workforce of STEM professionals and leaders.
HBCU CHIPS Network – The HBCU CHIPS Network is a partnership of HBCU institutions and affiliates with a compelling infrastructure and motivation to support the Microelectronics industry and serve as an advocacy group to petition federal funding agencies for directed funding to HBCUs to execute the mission of the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. The HBCU CHIPS Network is envisioned as a research and education consortium that serves as the nexus of collaboration and cooperation between HBCUs, government agencies, academia, and industry. As a member institution, Morehouse College has expertise in STEM education, curriculum development, entrepreneurship training, and community outreach.
The Leadership Alliance - Founded at Brown University in 1992 as a partnership of 23 institutions, the Leadership Alliance provides training opportunities for underrepresented students to develop into outstanding leaders and role models in academia, business, and the public sector. Today, this consortium has grown to more than 35 partners and has provided research, mentoring, and networking experiences to over 5,500 scholars at various stages of the academic pathway. The Leadership Alliance uses a time-tested model to leverage its collective resources to address the shortage of individuals from historically underrepresented groups in doctoral training programs, academia, and the broader research workforce.
The Environmental Protection Agency Region 4 – Through a partnership of purpose Morehouse College and the EPA, Region 4 will work collaboratively to advance the development of the full human capital of this Nation, promote equal opportunity in higher education, enhance Morehouse College’s capacity to provide high-quality education, and encourage the participation of Morehouse College in EPA programs. This partnership will advance Morehouse’s efforts to produce leaders who will promote sustainability, serve as environmental stewards, and advocate for policies that eliminate environmental injustices.
