About Our Study Abroad Program Opportunities

    • External Partner Program

      OIE opps
      Overview

External partner programs are facilitated through one of our 5 approved providers:

      • IES Abroad
      • ISEP
      • Arcadia Abroad
      • CIEE
      • CEA-CAPA

Our partners provide experiences for all majors, including intensive language, service, and internship opportunities. Certain programs may hold classes at a provider’s center, or you may have the option to enroll directly in a university abroad. Placement is generally guaranteed if eligibility requirements are met. External partner programs are available in the fall, spring, and summer academic term.

      Length

These programs can be a few weeks (summer) to a semester long (fall and spring).

      Eligibility

To be eligible for a fall or spring external partner program, participants must be full-time, traditional students with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Participants must be classified as a sophomore or junior at Morehouse College during time abroad. Additionally, students must be in good standing with Morehouse College (academically, financially, health records, and conduct).

Summer external partner participants must meet the above requirements; however, summer opportunities are open to all classifications.

      Academics

Students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours while studying abroad during the fall or spring semester. Courses taken abroad must be approved prior to departure and will count toward your Morehouse GPA. Please choose a program that offers courses that mostly closely align with your degree plan. We strongly recommend students study abroad for a semester during sophomore year to allow for maximum course flexibility.

Summer programs do not have a credit minimum. Credits earned from summer are accepted as transfer credit.

      Cost

The Office of International Education provides a list of Morehouse College-approved programs. You can browse available programs here. Approved direct programs start at $10,000 and are capped at $20,000.

Payment for these programs is conveniently made through TigerPay. External financial aid (Pell Grants, Lomax, OWSP, etc.) may be applied; however, institutional scholarships may not be utilized. Payment for summer external partners is made directly, and financial aid cannot be applied.

The Office of International Education provides a $1,200 stipend to directly support students in studying abroad for external partner programs. This stipend can be used once during a student’s Morehouse matriculation and can used for external partner programs.

We encourage you to visit our “Financial Aid & Scholarships” page to explore how to fund your trip. Individual partner program providers also offer scholarships of up to $9,000 to make studying abroad more affordable.
