Overview
In college, the student—not the parent, guardian, counselor, or high school—is responsible for requesting accommodations, submitting documentation, and communicating accommodation needs. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, students must self-identify and actively participate in the accommodation process. To help ensure accommodations are in place when classes begin, we strongly encourage students to start the registration process with OEA as early as possible and ideally 4–6 weeks before the start of the semester.
What We Do
The Office of Educational Accessibility works collaboratively with students, faculty, and campus partners to foster an inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. We provide reasonable accommodations and support services for students with documented disabilities, including but not limited to:

-
Autism Spectrum Disorder • Psychological and Mental Health Conditions
-
Chronic Medical Conditions • Mobility Impairments
-
Visual Impairments
-
Hearing Impairments
-
Temporary Disabilities Resulting from Injury or Illness
Depending on individual needs and documentation, accommodations may include:
- Extended testing time
- Alternative testing locations
- Accessible course materials
- Assistive technology
- Note-taking support
- Housing accommodations
- Other individualized supports identified through the interactive accommodation process
