The Office of International Education believes every Man of Morehouse deserves the opportunity to study abroad. To help make global experiences accessible, our office offers innovative financial support. Please review the funding structure for more details:

OIE Affiliate Program Stipend
Students are eligible to receive a stipend of between $500-$1,000 for participation in an approved affiliate program in the fall, spring, or summer academic term. This stipend can be awarded once during a student’s matriculation at Morehouse.
To clarify, students are eligible for one faculty-led subsidy and one affiliate program stipend during their matriculation.

OIE Affiliate Program Stipend

Scholarship Information
There are a variety of scholarships available to support your global experience. The key to success is to apply early. Typically, you must apply to and/or be accepted into a study abroad program before you can be considered for scholarship funding.
Affiliate Partner Scholarships
If you are participating in an external partner program, please explore the financial assistance you may be eligible for. Funding from a specific partner can only be used for programs offered by that partner. To qualify, you must apply through the provider’s website and already have submitted an application for one of their programs. Be sure to apply by the provider’s deadline.
- Arcadia Abroad offers need-based scholarships ranging from $250-$2,500 depending on financial need and program term.
- CEA CAPA offers awards ranging from $1,000 to $10,000.
- CIEE provides an array of need and merit-based scholarships ranging from $200 to $2,500.
- IES Abroad offers excellent financial assistance with up to $7,000 in high-impact aid based on your Student Aid Index (SAI). Additional scholarships may be awarded based on merit and/or financial need.
- ISEP offers several program-specific and need-based scholarships.
- IFSA offers Morehouse students the HBCU grant of $3,500 for spring 2027 or fall 2027semester programs and $1,000 for summer 2027 programs.
General Scholarships

Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship Program
- The Gilman Scholarship Program offers up to $5,000 for U.S. citizen undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding to participate in credit-bearing study abroad programs
Boren Scholarship & Fellowship
- This program offers funding for U.S. students studying abroad in world regions critical to U.S. interests
- Recipients are awarded up to $25,000 based on program duration
- The CEDINTHECITY scholarship supports students who are traditionally underrepresented in their quests to study abroad for the first time
- Complete one application to be considered for an assortment of scholarships that you meet the criteria for, in addition to Fund for Education Abroad General Scholarships
Explore the World Travel Scholarship
- Receive a $2,000 travel stipend and a lifetime HI USA membership
- For students able to demonstrate financial need and who have limited travel experience/resources
- Recipients are awarded $10,000 to study abroad
- Open to students studying computer science or a related field who demonstrate leadership, a strong academic record, and exhibit financial need
- Provides awards of $5,000 for child dependents of active-duty service members to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs

- Grants up to $1,500 to study abroad in the fall, spring, or summer term
- Open to any citizen and/or resident of the U.S. enrolled as a full-time college student
- Browse various scholarships and grants available for study abroad program participants
- Recipients are awarded up to $3,000 for summer term and up to $5,000 for a semester for study abroad programs in East or Southeast Asia
Joy Worldwide Study Abroad Scholarship Program
- Scholarship program offers $500-$750 to African American students accepted into study abroad programs of three months or more
- The flight voucher program is open to Pell Grant recipients and provides students with a round-trip flight to their host city to study abroad
- One recipient will be awarded up to $25,000 towards a semester of study at a British university
- Open to sophomore students with a minimum 3.0 GPA in all disciplines to study abroad during their junior year
Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants
- Recipients are granted $1,000 to study abroad
Study Abroad in Japan: Bridging Scholarships
- Receive a $2,500 stipend to go studying abroad for a full semester in Japan
- Open to students majoring in any field
Tortuga Study Abroad Scholarship
- Receive $1,000 to be used for tuition, room and board, books, or travel for a study abroad program
Fully Funded Programs
Fully funded programs typically cover program fees, international travel, accommodations, and meals. Be sure to carefully review individual program details to understand what’s covered, eligibility criteria, and other important information.
CIEE Douglass-O’Connell Global Internship
- This prestigious, fully funded, eight-week summer internship program takes place in Dublin, Ireland
- Participants gain hands-on leadership experience, receive academic credit, and are immersed in Irish culture through cohort activities
- Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be Pell-eligible
- This fully funded summer internship takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark, allowing students to gain a deep understanding of environmental sustainability in the Danish context while developing practical skills
- Participants will complete a 6-credit internship, engage in networking events, and attend professional development workshops
- Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and be Pell-eligible
- The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an eight-week intensive overseas language and cultural immersion summer program for American college students
- Participants receive language instruction, cultural programming, academic credit, an international roundtrip flight to the CLS site abroad, and room/board within the host country
CIEE Scan Design Foundation Environmental Sustainability Internship
- This fully funded summer internship takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark, allowing students to gain a deep understanding of environmental sustainability in the Danish context while developing practical skills
