Meet Trustee Thaler

Richard Thaler is the managing partner of Lieutenant Island Partners, LLC. His current activities include advising several private equity partnerships as well as service on myriad not for profit boards including the Princeton University History Dept Advisory Council, Plymouth Plantation (historical Museum), Treasurer of Learn 4 Life Charleston, and a startup charter school in Charleston, SC. Previously, he was an investment banker for many years with Lehman Brothers and then Deutsche Bank where he retired as a Vice Chairman of Global Investment Banking. While an investment banker, Mr. Thaler enjoyed 11 years as a pro bono adjunct professor of finance at Morehouse where he taught a course on Leverage Buyouts and Private Equity. He has served on the Morehouse Board of Trustees for ten years and as Treasurer and Head of the Financial Sustainability Committee the Morehouse Board for the last six years. As a young man he travelled throughout South America, Africa and crossed Asia by public bus.

He holds a BA in History from Princeton University and a MBA from Harvard University.
