About the Professor
Dr. Lange is the head of the German Studies program at Morehouse College.
Matthew Lange earned his BA at The Citadel, MA at the University of Colorado-Boulder, and PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Grants from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Fulbright program funded study in Erlangen (Friedrich Alexander University) and dissertation research in Berlin (Center for Research on Antisemitism). Before joining the Department of Foreign Languages at Morehouse College and teaching German courses for the entire Atlanta University Center (Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University), Dr. Lange headed the German program at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he taught the full gamut of courses in German language, literature, culture, and phonetics for over a decade. His research has concentrated on antisemitism in Germany and the attempt to mold a socio-economic ethos therewith, which he outlined in the monograph "Antisemitic Elements in the Critique in German Culture, 1850-1933" (Lang) as well as several entries in the "Handbuch des Antisemitismus" (de Gruyter).
