    Bio

    Dr. Kipton E. Jensen is a professor of philosophy. He has served as the Director of the Higher Education in Prisons Program in the Andrew Young Center for Global Leadership (2024-2025), the Director of Leadership Studies (2020-2024), and the Assistant Director of the International Comparative Labor Studies Program (2018-2020).

    Since coming to Morehouse, Jensen has published five books: Hegel: Hovering (Cambridge Scholars Press, 2011), Parallel Discourses: Religious Identity and HIV Prevention in Botswana (2012), Howard Thurman’s Sermons on the Parables (Orbis Books, 2018), and Howard Thurman: Philosophy, Civil Rights, and the Search for Common Ground (University of South Carolina Press, 2019), and an edited volume on Preston King: History, Toleration, and Friendship (2021). He is also the co-editor of a forthcoming volume on American and British Philosophy in the 19th century: Der Grundriss der Geschichte der Philosophie (Schwabe Verlag, 2026). His scholarly essays focus on the philosophy of education, the philosophy of religion, and the history of philosophy. Jensen was a Fulbright Scholar in American Studies at the Martin Luther Universität in Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, in 2001. Professor Jensen received his BA in Classical Languages at the University of Nebraska and a PhD in Philosophy at Marquette University.
