PROFILE
Justin is the Founder and President of the Journey Venture Studio, a Phoenix-based 501c3 not-for-profit entity, that creates and launches healthcare companies to be led by underrepresented founders. Justin is also the Founder and CEO of Ten Figures, a culturally competent advisory, management services organization, and private investment firm supporting the development and growth in BIPOC and/or women entrepreneurs.
Justin, a native Phoenician, started his career in investment banking at Morgan Stanley in New York City before leaving to transform the family business previously known as Bayless and Associates. Justin was driven by a quest to find solutions to complex problems in the healthcare industry particularly when it came to communities that would otherwise be left behind. Bayless Integrated Healthcare became a pioneer in integrating physical and behavioral healthcare as well as one of the first nationally to be designated as a Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) accredited telehealth provider groups.
Justin subsequently led Bayless Integrated Healthcare to be featured on the prestigious Inc. 5000 list for the fastest growing private companies in America three years in a row (2018, 2019, and 2020) before executing a transaction with Magellan Health Inc. (NASDAQ: MGLN), a Fortune 500 company, in December 2020. Magellan Health was acquired by Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC), a Fortune 25 company, in January 2022 and Justin subsequently transitioned away from the 40 year old family business in February 2022.
Justin has been featured in numerous award publications including but not limited to: 2017 Non-Physician Healthcare Hero by the Phoenix Business Journal, 2017 Spirit of Enterprise Awardee by the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, 2019 Living History “Art of Entrepreneurship” Honor by the Jack & Jill of America, Inc. Phoenix Chapter, The Phoenix Chapter of The Links Inc., and the Gamma Mu Boule of The Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, 2019 AZ Industry Leaders by AZ Business Magazine, 2019 40 under 40 by the Phoenix Business Journal, 2021 AZ Telehealth Leader by Arizona Business Magazine, and recently was named as one of Modern Healthcare’s 2021 Top 25 Emerging Leaders.
Justin also serves as an Advisory Board Member and Partner to the Morgan Stanley Next Level Fund as well as a Board Trustee to Morehouse College. In addition, he continues his passion for philanthropic work and he has recently established entrepreneurship programs at the Boys and Girls Club of the Valley, ElevateMed, as well as Morehouse College.
