    PROFILE

Allen Chan is a Managing Director for the Diversified Search Group (DSG) where he is a part of the CEO/Board practice and also leads many efforts in the Leadership Advisory practice (in areas involving talent, organization, culture, and diversity).

Allen’s expertise is greatly influenced by his time as a consultant with lead consulting firm Booz.Allen & Hamilton – which he joined after completing his MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. While at Booz.Allen & Hamilton, Allen performed projects with large corporate clients focused on strategy development and process re-design/cost savings. His focus went beyond strategy development and recommendations, rather he was especially known for his focus on implementation and results-driven solutions. Much of Allen’s work was performed for multi-national entities and he spent a good deal of time working internationally. In addition to his client duties, Allen served as the developer and head of Booz.Allen’s MBA recruitment effort – identifying, recruiting, and developing the new talent coming into the firm.

Since his time at Booz.Allen & Hamilton, Allen has always held roles where he has responsibilities for strategy and leadership development. Allen’s career experience spans many industries – including management consulting, higher education, technology, not-for-profit, staffing, investment management, telecommunications, and leadership development programming.

Allen’s work experience spans many types of entity structures – from large corporations to early start-ups – and many industries – from energy to high tech to investment management to staffing/search.

Most recently, Allen spent the last 8 years leading the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program (RSLP) – developing, implementing and running the undergraduate leadership development program at Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill. Under Allen’s leadership, RSLP became one of the pre-eminent leadership development programs in the U.S. and reflected Julian Robertson’s vision of producing tomorrow’s leaders. Allen was recruited by Julian Robertson – hedge fund pioneer – and reported directly to Mr. Robertson in his role as leader of RSLP.

Service is core for Allen and he currently serves on the boards of Morehouse College, the Salvation Army National Advisory Board, the Kenan Institute and M&F Bank (a publicly traded community bank located in North Carolina). He has also previously served on the Statutory Board of Atlanta Life Insurance Company, on the Board of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and many other not-for-profit Boards.

Allen has a degree in Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
