    Take Your Placement Assessment

Morehouse is serious about setting you up for success. All incoming students have to take placement exams to help determine which classes are right for you.

    Taking Your Placement Exams

To determine which classes are right for you, you’ll take a mathematics (math) and foreign language assessment. All students regardless of transfer credit will need to take the math assessment. If a student has transfer credit for foreign language you may not need to take the assessment.

    Foreign Languages

The Modern Foreign Languages program at Morehouse College offers the following language courses: Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.

Students who want to learn Chinese or Portuguese do not need to take the foreign language placement test. Previous learning experience of Chinese or Portuguese is NOT required. If you have previous learning experience in Chinese or Portuguese, please send an email to your advisor.

Students who want to study French, German and Spanish must complete the WebCAPE online placement exam before registering for courses. Students should take the exam as soon as possible to expedite the completion of their schedule.

    Mathematics

All students will need to take the ALEKS mathematics placement exam, regardless of transfer credit hours or AP/IB courses. If you have sufficient transfer credits or AP/IB scores you will placed in math based on that information, but all students will need to take the test.

To access the ALEKS placement exam:

    1. Go to your MyPortal
    2. Select the ALEKS icon
    3. Click on “Add Class”
    4. Enter the Class Code that has been sent to you from your advisor
    5. Verify your enrollment information. If it is incorrect, check your class code and click Cancel to start over. If your information is correct, click on Confirm.
    6. Click the title of your course and follow the prompts to take a survey, complete the tools tutorial and take the placement test
