Meet Cynthia H. Bowman, First Lady of Morehouse College, and Founder of WMM
Cynthia H. Bowman, the First Lady of Morehouse College, is Vice President of Talent and People Technology, Data & Analytics at Apple Inc. and a widely respected corporate leader and strategist.
She brings more than 30 years of experience in human capital management, organizational effectiveness, and leadership to her work in corporate America. And as First Lady of Morehouse, she is a trailblazer.
Bowman has launched a historic $1 million fundraising initiative, the Women Mobilizing for Morehouse Campaign, that is building a coalition of support for Morehouse College among the mothers, wives, daughters, and extended family of Morehouse Men, as well as faculty, staff, donors, and friends of the College who value the legacy of excellence at Morehouse and its success at producing outstanding leaders.
“Women Mobilizing for Morehouse was born from a simple but powerful belief: when women come together with vision and purpose, we can move institutions forward. This historic movement is an expression of our collective love for Morehouse and our unwavering belief in the promise of its students,” Bowman said. “I am deeply grateful to all the women who have joined the movement to support Morehouse with their generous gifts. Their contributions will make a lasting imprint on Morehouse and on the generations of rising Morehouse Men who will come to the College to learn, serve, grow, and develop into principled leaders.”
As the wife of Dr. F. DuBois Bowman, the 13th President of Morehouse College, First Lady Cynthia Bowman provides strategic counsel and leadership to initiatives that advance student success, holistic development, and institutional excellence. Passionate about educational equity and leadership development, she champions opportunities that empower youth to reach their highest potential.
“My husband and I are the first SpelHouse presidential couple in Morehouse’s history,” Bowman said. “I am a proud 1991 graduate of Spelman College, and my husband is a 1992 Morehouse alumnus. We are the parents of four wonderful children, including two sons who are Morehouse Men. We also consider the students of Morehouse College as our extended family. We are honored to have the privilege of watching them grow and excel as we steward the future of Morehouse College, a world-class institution.”
Before joining Apple, Bowman served in multiple roles within the Human Resources organization at Bank of America, where she developed and implemented enterprise-wide strategies in Corporate Social Responsibility, Talent, Recruiting, Organizational Effectiveness, Culture, and Inclusion. Bowman's leadership has been recognized by EBONY, Black Enterprise, American Banker, Forbes Culture 50 Champions, National Urban League Women of Power, Crain’s Detroit List Most Influential Women, and Savoy magazine, among others.
Before joining Bank of America, she was a partner at Accenture, where she led large-scale consulting and performance initiatives for global Fortune 500 clients. Her leadership acumen and results-oriented vision have positioned her as one of the nation’s most influential voices in advancing business strategy and inclusive organizational transformation.
Beyond her corporate leadership, Bowman is deeply committed to service and education. She served on the board of trustees for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Corporate Advisory Board, the Sphinx Organization Board of Directors, and the Catalyst Advisory Board.
Bowman is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., where she was inducted into Spelman’s Eta Kappa Chapter. She is also the product of historically Black and top-tier institutions. Bowman earned a Master of Business Administration in Organizational Behavior and Operations from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science from Spelman College.
