    Student Housing

The Morehouse Residential College is an integral part of becoming a Morehouse Man. Our residential community grounds our students and allows them to grow into leaders.

    Morehouse College On-Campus Residential Housing

More than just student dorms but a place to reside and grow.

At Morehouse College, we provide Residential Housing that fosters community, growth, and connection among our students. Our on-campus housing options, known as Residence Halls, are intentionally designed to be more than just a place to sleep—they are spaces for building brotherhood, supporting academic success, and creating lifelong memories. In lieu of the term ‘dorm,’ we prefer the term Residence Halls because they reflect a living and learning environment that prioritizes personal development and a strong sense of belonging.

Students who live on campus enjoy the following benefits from their on-campus experience:

    • Have higher expectations for academic achievement and are more likely to remain in college
    • Are more involved in campus activities and learn to work with others, manage budgets, express their ideas in meetings, negotiate, and follow through with projects
    • Meet more challenges, mature more quickly, and learn to become interdependent
    • Build strong friendships, share more experiences, interact more, develop more tolerance, and experience more cultural diversity
    • Integrate with faculty both in the residence halls and due to closer proximity to faculty offices
    • Feel that the campus is more comfortable, more educationally purposeful, more supportive, and more enjoyable yielding higher overall satisfaction with their college experience

    THE RESIDENTIAL EXPERIENCE: COLLEGE HOUSING

Morehouse College believes that students who live on-campus are more likely to stay enrolled, work toward graduating on time, and feel connected to the campus community.

Research supports our belief that living on campus in college housing has several positive outcomes that help students developmentally.

    FIRST-YEAR COLLEGE HOUSING

Our First-Year Residential Experience aims to ground our students in the tools necessary to not only survive but to thrive at Morehouse. Each of our first-year Morehouse College housing options offers active opportunities for student leadership, a team of Resident Advisors, and a Residential Academic Mentor. The academic mentor provides students with academic coaching and other forms of academic support such as tutoring and study skill acquisition. Every first-year college on-campus housing offers an intimate sense of community. First-year college housing include:

    Leadership Opportunities

    RESIDENCE HALL ASSOCIATION

RHA is led by an executive board team of student leaders who host large-scale signature programs, including the Annual Stroll-Off competition and the Miss RHA pageant. Overall, RHA comprises all students living in Residential Morehouse College Housing. Each residential house has a house council dedicated to programming, advocating for their fellow housemates, and building community.

    NATIONAL RESIDENCE HALL HONORARY

NRHH is a student group that encourages the Morehouse community members to identify students and staff who have gone above and beyond in their roles. NRHH honors them for their achievements in the form of recognition, gifts, and awards. NRHH is committed to community service, resource sharing, programming, and leadership development.

    RESIDENT ADVISORS

Resident Advisors are upperclassmen peer leaders who support and monitor residents living in our residential Morehouse College housing. They are often the first resource for residents with academic, institutional, or personal questions. RAs have diverse responsibilities, emphasizing community development, policy enforcement, fostering brotherhood, and engaging with students to create a premier experience at Morehouse College. Our goal is to create outside-the-classroom learning opportunities for our college on-campus residents, and the RAs are major contributors to this initiative. RAs undergo in-depth training to ensure that they have the tools for engaging in difficult conversations, facilitating conflict mediation, and identifying high-risk situations that require professional staff support.
