ABOUT LIEUTENANT Bonnett
LT Tariq Bonnett started his naval career after graduating from Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 2019. From there he proceeded down to Pensacola, Fl to start Pre-flight indoctrination and IFS. Tariq completed IFS in July of 2020 then continued to complete API in August of the same year. He then moved over to Milton, FL to begin Primary flight training in January of 2021 flying the T-6B. Tariq graduated from Primary flight training in November of 2021 and selected Maritime. From here he relocated to Corpus Christi, TX to start multi-engine flight training flying the T-44. After months of flying the Texas skies Tariq graduated and earned his wings of gold in July of 2022.
Once selecting the P-8 Poseidon, he started the FRS in NAS Jacksonville, FL in August of 2022. He completed the FRS in June of 2023 and then began his PCS to Whidbey Island, WA to become a member of Patrol Squadron 46. As a member of VP-46 LT Bonnett completed 2 overseas deployments to EUCOM (OCT 2023 - APR 2024) and CETCOM (JUN 2025 - OCT 2025) accumulating 770 hours of total flight time and over 60 hours of combat time. Over his 6 yrs of service he has received the National Defense Service medal, Global War on Terrorism Service medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
LT Bonnett completed his service obligation in November of 2025 at VP-46. From there he took his experience to Morehouse College as a Naval ROTC instructor.
