About Dr. Young
I am a proud alumnus of the College but it brings me much more pride to participate in the development of the next generation of future Morehouse Men.
After graduating with a BS in Chemistry from Morehouse in 1995, Dr. Young earned his Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry at Texas A&M University and continued with a postdoctoral fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine before coming home to Morehouse in 2003.
With areas of expertise in biochemistry and protein X-Ray crystallography, Dr. Young has served as a Visiting Scientist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and as a Visiting Fellow at Princeton University. At Morehouse, he has served as a past Co-Director of the Morehouse College MARC U*STAR Program and as a Faculty Representative to the Morehouse College Board of Trustees;
Dr. Young currently serves as Chairperson of the Faculty. His work has garnered several publications and has attracted over $4.5 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the Department of Education and he was recently tapped to serve on a committee for the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine.
In 2023, Dr. Young completed the Executive MPH program at Morehouse School of Medicine in efforts to pivot into molecular epidemiology. His biggest accomplishment is having ushered over 100 students into receiving terminal degrees in science and medicine.
