    About Chief Prescott

Charles Prescott II ’07 is a distinguished and emerging leader in public safety with a career spanning multiple roles in law enforcement and higher education. His journey began at the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a deputy. Prescott advanced to lead investigator in narcotics and violent crime with the Waynesboro Police Department, spearheading impactful initiatives such as Operation Clean Sweep to combat illegal drugs.

In 2013, Prescott played a pivotal role in establishing the Paine College Police Department in Augusta. At just 29 years old, he became one of the youngest law enforcement administrators in Georgia, serving as assistant chief of police at Paine College.

Prescott's expertise continued to grow during his tenure as assistant chief investigator for the Atlanta Judicial Circuit, supervising over 40 investigators and working in the major case division before leading the gang unit. His deep knowledge in investigating criminal gang activity earned him recognition as a court-qualified gang expert.

Prescott later became the first and only Black chief investigator for the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office, where he played a pivotal role in the Ahmaud Arbery murder investigation, managing the security detail and investigation process for the prosecution team. His reputation for excellence led to his selection by Governor Brian Kemp to serve on Georgia's Child Fatality Review Board.

A dedicated scholar, Chief Prescott holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Morehouse College, a Master of Science in Emergency Management from Walden University, and a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from the Apex School of Theology. He is currently a doctoral candidate in Organizational Leadership at Columbia International University. Additionally, Prescott holds a Black Belt in Six Sigma, highlighting his expertise in process improvement and operational efficiency.

Prescott currently serves as Chief of Police and Associate Vice President of Campus Safety and Campus Police at Morehouse College, marking a historic milestone as the youngest chief and the first alumnus to hold the position. Prescott is married to his talented, intelligent, and beautiful wife, Adrian Prescott, a school teacher. His connection to Morehouse runs deep, as his son, Charles Prescott III, also attends Morehouse College. He also serves as Vice President of HBCU Law Enforcement Executives and Administrators and sits on the Fulton County Training Center Advisory Board.
