FIRST-YEAR HOUSES

Our First-Year Residential Experience aims to ground our students in the tools necessary to not only survive but to thrive at Morehouse. Each of our first-year houses has active opportunities for student leadership, a team of Resident Advisors, and a Residential Academic Mentor. The academic mentor provides students with academic coaching and other forms of academic support such as tutoring and study skill acquisition. Every first-year house offers an intimate sense of community.

UPPERCLASSMEN HOUSES

Our upperclassmen residential experience is geared towards meaningful interactions that increase a student’s chance at success through educational programming and social engineering. We aim to deliver services that create Morehouse Men with preeminent character.

LEADERSHIP OPPORTURNITIES

RESIDENCE HALL ASSOCIATION

RHA is led by an executive board team of student leaders who host large scale signature programs, including the Annual Stroll-Off competition and the Miss RHA pageant. Overall, RHA comprises all students living in Residential Houses at Morehouse College. Each residential house has a house council dedicated to programming, advocating for their fellow housemates, and building community.

NATIONAL RESIDENCE HALL HONORARY

NRHH is a student group that encourages the Morehouse community members to identify students and staff who have gone above and beyond in their role. NRHH honors them for their achievements in the form of recognition, gifts, and awards. NRHH is committed to community service, resource sharing, programming, and leadership development.

RESIDENT ADVISORS

Resident Advisors are upperclassmen peer leaders who support and monitor residents living in our residential houses. They are often the first resource for residents with academic, institutional, or personal questions. RAs have diverse responsibilities, emphasizing community development, policy enforcement, fostering brotherhood, and engaging with students to create a premier experience at Morehouse College. Our goal is to create outside the classroom learning opportunities for our residents, and the RAs are major contributors to this initiative. RAs undergo in-depth training to ensure that they have the tools for engaging in difficult conversations, facilitating conflict mediation, and identifying high-risk situations that require professional staff support.
