About Dr. Whitney
Dr. Whitney is the Director of the Bonner Office of Community Service, which is responsible for cultivating a culture of service on the campus of Morehouse College.
Dr. Wilbur M. Whitney has been the Director, Bonner Office of Community Service at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA since August 2008. Previously he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Morehouse College. His courses are noted for their community service-learning requirements and serve as a model for other courses at the College. Prior to his position at Morehouse College, Dr. Whitney was the Executive Director of the Clark Atlanta University Head Start Programs..
Dr. Whitney earned his Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University, an M.S. at Howard University, and a B.A. from Lycoming College. His area of training and expertise is in Ecological Psychology, which is the study of the impact of culture and environment on individuals, groups and organizations. He has co-authored several books on African American Issues in Mental Health. He is the former National President of the Association of Black Psychologist.
