Meet Dr. Andrews

Bio

Jennifer Gray Andrews, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her PhD and second Master’s degree in Psychology from Emory University, where she studied personality and clinical psychology. She received her first Master’s degree in the History of Art from University College London and was a dual major in English and Art History as an undergraduate at Emory University.

Dr. Andrews’s research areas span narrative psychology, art psychology, and ecopsychology, with her most recent work examining the mental health benefits from interacting with wild birds. Her recent publication on birding represents one of the first comprehensive psychological analyses of the practice’s myriad benefits. To date, she and her lab assistants have implemented multiple research studies in the area of birding and mental health and have presented their data at various conferences including those hosted by the APA, APS, ABRCMS, and, most recently, the Association for Field Ornithologists and the Wilson Ornithological Society. She has supervised fellows for the Environmental Justice and Sustainability Program as well as the McNair Scholars Program and has served as a reviewer for a multitude of academic journals, including Ecopsychology and The Journal of Black Psychology.
