    About Dr. Natasha R. Howard

    Natasha R. Howard, Ph.D. is passionate about using research and storytelling as a means for advocating for equity in terms of opportunity and access for women of color and individuals involved in the justice system.

    Natasha R. Howard, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Morehouse College. Her areas of specialization include Black women and motherhood, autoethnography, and representations of the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality in the media and popular culture – with a particular focus on Black women. Dr. Howard is a 2023-24 recipient of a UNCF/Mellon Faculty Residency Fellowship. Some of her other recent accomplishments include being a 2022 New Leaders Council Fellow, a 2021-2022 Andrew Young Center for Global Leadership Faculty Teaching Fellow, a 2021 Urban Leaders Fellow, and a 2019-2020 Mellon/American Council of Learned Societies Community College Faculty Fellow. Dr. Howard is also a co-editor of the book, Black Women and Popular Culture: The Conversation Continues (2014) and has written for both academic and popular outlets on topics pertaining to reproductive justice issues, activism, and Black women in hip hop and on television.
