    In Conversation...

WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN TO SERVE ON THE MOREHOUSE COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES?

The College played such an important role in my life and in the lives of so many Black man in this country. It is a national treasure. And I felt it was my duty to ensure its ongoing place and presence as a thriving institution of higher learning.

WHO FROM THE MOREHOUSE COMMUNITY HAS IMPRESSED OR IMPACTED YOUR LIFE OR WORK?

All Morehouse men have been shaped in some way by the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Dr. Benjamin Elijah Mays. Both men, along with Dr. Howard Thurman, helped me (by way of example) imagine myself in the most expansive of terms and demonstrated what it means to live a life of service.

AS A TRUSTEE, HOW DO YOU HOPE TO IMPACT MOREHOUSE COLLEGE?

I want to bring my particular skill set as educator to help the College fulfill its mission in the 21st century.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK, MOVIE AND/OR TV SHOW OF ALL TIME?

That is a hard question, and the answer depends on the day and my mood. Right now my favorite book is James Baldwin’s Collected Essays (all of his nonfiction) with a special love for No Name in the Street.
