    Acknowledgement that the Institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification Agreement

    On April 24, 2020, Morehouse College signed and submitted the Certification and Agreement Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to the Department of Education.

    The total amount of funds that the institution received from the Department pursuant to the institutions Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students was $1,473,910

    Total Amount of Federal Aid Distributed to Students

    As of May 22, 2020, a total of $806,500 has been distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

    Estimated number of students eligible to participate under Section 484 in TIV of the Higher Education Act of 1965

    There are approximately 1,918 students at Morehouse College eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in the TITLE IV of the Higher Education Act of 1964 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under section 18004(a)(a) of the CARES Act.

    Approximately 1095 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant under section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of 5/22/2020.

    Morehouse Policy on CARES Act Emergency Grants to Students

    The following instructions have been provided to students at Morehouse College regarding the CARES Act Emergency Grants to students

    The college sent the following communication to students:

    • All initial communications went out on 5/7/2020 which included the Frequently Asked Questions found below:
      • Notice to student body regarding information of CARES Act emergency funding
      • Notice to all eligible students outlining instructions to complete the self-certification form and Direct Deposit information. The notice had subsequent notices on 5/14/20 and 5/18/20.
      • Notice to ineligible students to include requirements of CARES Act Emergency Funding as set forth by the Department of Education

    Students who completed the self-certification and indicated they were affected by COVID-19 and agreed to use funding for its intended purpose were automatically routed for payment based on the criteria listed in our policy. Student applications as well as any questions were routed to
    caresactgrant@morehouse.edu. The deadline to complete the self-certification for Spring 2020 was 5/18/20 at 5pm.
