Understanding our Admissions Waitlist
Stay Informed, Stay Ready — Know what it means to be on the waitlist and get answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the waitlist process.
The Morehouse Waitlist Process
At Morehouse College, we recognize the dedication and ambition of every applicant. If you’ve been placed on our admissions waitlist, it means we see great potential in you, and while we are currently at capacity, spaces may become available. The waitlist is an opportunity to still be considered for admission should openings arise.
Here’s how the process works: waitlisted applicants must confirm their interest, and as spots become available, we use a fair and structured evaluation system to extend offers. Throughout the process, we’ll keep you updated on your status and notify you promptly if a spot opens for you. Read on to understand what to expect and how to stay prepared.
How the Admissions Waitlist Works:
- Waitlist Offer Process:
- Applicants who are placed on the waitlist will receive an official notification indicating their status.
- These applicants will remain on the waitlist until a final decision is made regarding their admission.
- Applicants must confirm their interest in remaining on the waitlist within 10 days following the notification.
- Waitlist Duration:
- The waitlist remains active until the start of the academic program or until all available spots are filled.
- If no openings arise by May 23, 2025, the waitlist will be closed.
- How Offers Are Made:
- When a spot opens, we will evaluate the waitlist using the Admissions Waitlist Rubric. The individual with the highest score will be the first offered the available spot.
- Offers are made until all available spots have been filled. If an applicant declines an offer, the next applicant on the list will be contacted.
- Communication:
- Applicants will receive updates on their waitlist status as decisions progress.
- If an applicant is offered a spot, they must respond within 48 hours to accept or decline the offer.
- Final Decision:
- Once all spots are filled, all waitlisted applicants will be notified, and the waitlist will be closed.
- If an applicant is not offered a spot, they may be invited to apply again for future terms.
