Getting started with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step toward accessing financial resources for a Morehouse education. The FAFSA evaluates your eligibility for federal grants, work study programs, and student loans, as well as aid from your state and school.

What the FAFSA Evaluates

When you complete the FAFSA, your financial situation is assessed to determine eligibility for:

• Federal grants – financial aid that does not need to be repaid
• Work-study opportunities – part-time jobs to help cover educational expenses and help you gain valuable work experience.
• Federal student loans – low-interest loans to help pay for your education

Many schools and states also use your FAFSA data to award their own financial aid, so completing it early can increase your chances of receiving aid that may have limited availability.

Important Dates and Deadlines

The FAFSA for the 2025-2026 academic year becomes available on December 1, 2025. To maximize your aid opportunities, complete your FAFSA as soon as possible after this date. Each year you’re in school, you’ll need to submit a new FAFSA to continue receiving aid.

  • May 1: Deadline for New Students

Ready to get started? Visit StudentAid.gov/fafsa to begin your application. Make sure you have all necessary information on hand, including personal details, financial records, and federal tax information. When filling out your FAFSA, be sure to include Morehouse College’s school code: 001582 to ensure your information is sent to our financial aid office.
