Billette D. Owens-Ashford is an assistant professor at Morehouse College in the Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education Department. Prior to coming to Morehouse, she was the first woman to serve as athletic director for the Atlanta Public Schools System, which included programs at 25 schools. She also served as a health and physical education teacher and the first liason specialist for the Safe and Drug Free Schools Program.
Owens-Ashford earned a Bachelor of Arts from Clark Atlanta University, majoring in health and physical education. She also earned a master’s degree in sports and physical education program administration from The Ohio State University. She is also a certified athletic administrator and leadership trainer with the Natinoal Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
She has also served as cheer coach at Clark Atlanta University, leading the CAU cheerleaders to three consectuive National Black College Championships.
