Summary

Morehouse College seeks a highly motivated, creative, dynamic, and collaborative individual to fill the position of Network Administrator reporting directly to the Director of Enterprise Infrastructure. The Network Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The person will also analyze and resolve end-user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user training where required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide network support with a variety of operating systems
  • Install and configure computer network equipment
  • Maintain network connectivity of all computer workstations
  • Provide network support to users
  • Assists in the administration of the DHCP, DNS, and TACACS+ server(s)
  • Assists in the formation and implementation of college security policies as it relates to the college network environment
  • Maintains, upgrades, and repairs college firewalls
  • Participates in the disaster recovery planning process as it relates to the networking infrastructure
  • Provide network support with a variety of operating systems
  • Provide network support to users
  • Physical network support and repair, where required
  • Develop and monitor policies for the use of network resources
  • Implement and manage disaster recovery and back-up
  • Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades
  • Monitor network to ensure optimal performance
  • Create and maintain network users/permissions
  • Test release of products to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility
  • Create technical support documentation for systems and applications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A bachelor's degree (Computer Science or related field) and a minimum of three years enterprise network administration experience
  • Three years of full-time progressively responsible demonstrated experience in network design and support and experience in configuring and maintaining a diverse enterprise IT infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of structured wiring systems and the supporting international standards
  • Working knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies, including TCP/IP, Ethernet, Wireless LAN, switching and routing protocols, and IPsec
  • Knowledge of network protocols and configuration standards
  • Knowledge of the virtual environment management principles
  • Knowledge of wireless control systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
  • Microsoft Office 365 account management
  • Linux (RedHat, Ubuntu) and Windows servers (2008, 2016, 2019) experience
  • Aruba/Extreme Network Equipment experience
  • Knowledge of FortiGate firewalls
  • Knowledge of APC battery backup systems
  • Communicate professionally (verbal and written)
  • Ability to be on call
  • Ability to handle sensitive data
  • Presentable, punctual and reliable
  • Ability to use his/her knowledge to solve complex network related issues
  • Skill in decision-making and problem solving
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
  • Demonstrated record of delivering quality customer service and communicating effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Must have a flexible and professional attitude toward working hours
  • Critical thinking skills is a very important for this position
  • Network certification and five years is a plus
Physical Demands

The Network Administrator will, on a routine basis, be required to sit or stand for prolonged periods. The Network Administrator may be required to lift, move or carry computer equipment up to 50 pounds. It may be required to bend, kneel, and crawl under desks and cabinets in certain situations. You may occasionally be exposed to allergens while performing essential functions of the job. However, protective gear is provided, and its use is recommended.
