Morehouse seeks a highly motivated, creative, dynamic, and collaborative individual to fill the position of IT Project Manager. The Project Manager's role is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. This role will serve as the liaison between the business and technical organizational functions and responsible for developing plans and overseeing IT projects across a broad spectrum of disciplines. Working at the Chief Information Officer's direction, the IT Project Manager sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors the progress of all IT-related projects to ensure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
  • Implement Project Management Institute (PMI) Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) standards
    responsible for schedule, scope, budget, risk, quality, security, resource, communications, and change management for projects
  • Oversee multiple projects and workstreams as part of the overall program structure
  • Coordinate strategic and tactical planning, budget and resource decisions among the program management team
  • Develop the Project Management Plan and Work Breakdown Structure
  • Develop comprehensive project schedules consisting of milestones, detailed deliverables, resource estimates, and schedules for each major phase of a project
  • Manage the execution, documentation, and timely approval of project deliverables
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Track project milestones and deliverables
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle
  • Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management
  • Work collaboratively across IT and business functions as needed to deliver projects and programs successfully
  • Prepare, distribute and maintain all project documentation according to established processes and methodology
  • Obtain strong domain and technical knowledge to enable better decision-making and innovation
Acquisition and Deployment
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
  • Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company
  • Determine and assess the need for additional staff and consultants and make the appropriate recruitments, if necessary, during the project cycle
Operational Management
  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Escalate to IT management and project sponsors as appropriate
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five years of project management experience
  • Experience in enterprise applications and an understanding in enterprise databases
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Current knowledge of rapidly changing computer technology
  • Experience/knowledge related to writing proposals for competitive grant funding
  • Experience managing and executing projects that are sponsored by grant funding agencies
  • PMP® certification required
  • ITIL Certification preferred
