The HBCU STEM Undergraduate Success Research Center is federally funded and is a research collaboration between Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Virginia State University. This Center functions under the mission of understanding and telling the stories of HBCUs through a research lens that allows for the documentation of the legacy of excellence in STEM education that has been exhibited at HBCUs and contributing to the future of education innovation.

The Coordinator will work with the Associate Director to implement center objectives, manage the Center's administrative functions, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare periodic reports, financial statements, and records related to center functions
  • Assists in the administration of the Center's budget, including the monitoring of expenditures
  • Prepare financial statements and maintain records about Center activities
  • Prepare purchases related to research efforts
  • Assist in the preparation of grant request and funding continuation for outside sponsors, as needed
  • Performs administrative support functions in coordinating student participation
  • Prepare or assist with the preparation of various reports, including financial, annual, etc.
  • Coordinate administrative activities related to overall Center research and function
  • Assist with the coordination and management of the annual conference
  • Other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Proficient in Word and Excel, and possess a working understanding of other Microsoft Office products
  • Required Communicates effectively
  • Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills
  • Must have integrated computer skills and knowledge of computer applications
  • Knowledge of information technology, data storage, and backup software
Physical Demands
  • This position requires frequent walking, standing, talking, and sitting at a desk for extended periods
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends for special events as necessary
  • Ability to use electronic devices, mobile phones, smart devices, and copiers are necessary for the performance of this position
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds
