Henry Goodgame

Vice President for External Relations and Alumni Engagement

Henry M. Goodgame, ’84 is vice president for external relations and alumni engagement. He manages special events, alumni affairs, local and governmental relations, and presidential outreach on behalf of Morehouse College. A native of Birmingham, AL with more than 30 years of experience, Goodgame oversees the Offices of Alumni Engagement, Event Support Services, Transportation Services, and External Affairs. He is a board member of the Morehouse College National Alumni Association and ensures alignment of goals and objectives between the Alumni Association and the Parents Association. He also coordinates the College’s premier fundraiser, the “A Candle in the Dark” Gala, which has raised more than $30 million for student scholarships.

Goodgame has been a trusted advisor to five presidents and three acting presidents. He joined the staff of Morehouse College in 1993 when President Leroy Keith appointed him to serve as director of alumni relations and major gifts. His successful management of special events and alumni capital campaigns, including Reunion and the Alumni Experience Homecoming Tailgate, which draws more 20,000 people to the campus annually, have led to increased alumni giving, participation, and support for the College.

Goodgame earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and computer science from Morehouse College. He also earned a certification in management from the IBM School of Business Technology and Management while working at IBM as an advisory client representative and an executive from 1985-1993.
 
An active community servant, he is a professional member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the National Advisory Board of the UNCF Alumni Council. He served as chair of the Advisory Board of Summerbridge Breakthrough Alumni Network, the President’s Cabinet, and the board of directors of the Morehouse College National Alumni Association. Henry is also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., for which he has served as co-advisor of the Alpha Rho Chapter for some 20 years.
