NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

New Student Orientation (NSO) is the College’s overall effort to ensure that new students are well prepared for the journey toward academic excellence and personal development at Morehouse College. In addition to helping you successfully make the transition to your new academic environment, the orientation program is the beginning of ongoing retention initiatives that are designed to support your timely graduation from the College.

Who can students contact for crown forum inquiries?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 2:
How many Crown Forums are students required to complete?

All students are required to attend a minimum of six (6) Crown Forum events per semester for six (6) semesters. Seniors who have completed six semesters of Crown Forum are invited, but not required to attend Crown Forums.

Does the crown forum requirements apply to transfer students?

Yes, however, this requirement will be adjusted for a transfer student, based on his classification upon entering Morehouse.

FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE

The First Year Experience (formerly Freshman Orientation) is a course administered through a collaboration between the Division of Student Development and the Office of Academic Affairs. The course topics are carefully crafted to address specific adjustment needs as well as to provide freshmen with new knowledge and information that will help them succeed in their first year

Is First year experience mandatory for all freshman to attend?

Morehouse College requires that all students satisfy all graduation requirements upon receiving their degrees; this includes passing first year experience.

How does one register for First Year Experience?

All courses can be registered through Banner web. On the menu click student registration and then proceed to click the appropriate semester you're registering classes for. First year assembly will be located under the Education tab.

When is Homecoming?

Homecoming is typically during the month of October.

What are the restrictions that will be enforced during homecoming?

  • No Selling of Alcohol
  • No Consumption of Drinks In Glass Containers. All Drinks Must Be Placed In Plastic/Disposable Cups
  • No Opened Alcohol Containers on Streets and Sidewalks
  • No Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages In Student Tailgating Areas or outside of Alumni Tailgating Areas (Alcohol Is only Allowed In Alumni Tailgating Areas) No Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages In Alumni Tailgating Areas After 7 P.M.
  • No Drinking Games, Public Intoxication, Consumption of Illegal Controlled Substances, Paraphernalia, or Providing Alcohol To Any Person Under Age 21. Persons Who Supply Alcohol To Underage Drinkers May Incur Criminal And Civil Liability.
  • No Disorderly Conduct
  • No Weapons
  • No Tailgating On The Top Of The Parking Deck
  • No Selling, Vending Or Soliciting Any Promotional Or Marketing Activities Without Written Authorization From The Director of Alumni Relations, Henry Goodgame At (404) 215-2658

The tailgate party is usually free and most of the free events require some form of identification.
