Public Leadership Initiative

Omicron Delta Kappa

The Public Leadership Initiative (PLI) resets the agenda for leadership development in the 21st century and positions Morehouse College as a key participant in the delivery of leadership services. The program advances the Ethical Leadership Model™ in the public leadership domain and trains professionals in business, public service, religion, science and technology and higher education.

The PLI training curriculum is based on the cultivation of character, civility and community, using extensive research and practice in both the private and public spheres of leadership. Training is delivered through keynote addresses, customized workshops, conferences, roundtables and other vehicles, combining distance learning with face-to-face collaborative discourse.

In 2004, the first Ethical Leadership Conference Ethical Leadership: At the Intersection Where Worlds Collide was held. The conference reviewed the adequacy of current best-practice examples of leadership and introduced ethical leadership as the new platform for leadership development. Program speakers and activities combined an interdisciplinary approach to leadership competencies, emphasizing adaptive and experientially based strategies to bring about transformation at the local, national, and international levels.

“I don’t know how to thank you enough; somehow words seem inadequate because the conference inspired me in ways that are immeasurable.”
