The Leadership Studies minor is an interdisciplinary course of study providing students with in-depth exposure to concepts, history, theories and best practices of leadership, with special emphasis on the need of emerging leaders to present informed, integrated and ethical solutions to local, national and international issues that affect civil society.
Learning experienced in a classroom setting is key to developing future leaders. Within the classroom, students are challenged to think critically about leadership theories and traditions, to explore their own values and to articulate new leadership paradigms in our increasingly diverse and global world.
Students explore critical ethical leadership issues that impact civil society using new and emerging instructional and information technology with the goal of preparing students through a rigorous, interdisciplinary academic course of study.
In January 2002, the Curriculum and Educational Policy Committee and the College faculty approved the interdisciplinary leadership studies minor. The first course was offered in spring 2003
